About Phil: 3 Circles Evangelism

Phil walks with you through evangelism — from getting ready, through the conversation, to staying with the person afterward. Five things the app does: get you tuned in before you head out, explain the gospel with the 3 Circles, keep testimonies and healings with the evidence, handle follow-ups with a reminder and a calendar entry, and hold prophetic words as audio with a transcript.

At the center is the 3 Circles (from Life on Mission, North American Mission Board). Three circles — God's Design, Brokenness, the Gospel — that believers around the world use to explain the gospel in a few minutes, classically drawn on a napkin. Phil walks you through that conversation slide by slide, with a diagram the person across from you can follow the whole time.

Then there's the treasure hunt. Before you head out, you pray and write down whatever comes: a place, a name, what someone looks like, what someone needs prayer for, something unusual. You carry that map with you. When one of your clues shows up, you hand the person your screen — no notes, no contacts, no tabs down the side. From there it's two taps to the 3 Circles. Afterward you write down what happened, and it becomes a testimony. Every map stays saved, including the ones where nothing hit.

Under Message you'll find the verses that matter most for handing on the best news.

In Testimonies you keep track of who you talked with, who gave their life to Jesus, and where someone got healed. Attach photos, PDFs or videos — a doctor's confirmation of a healing, for instance. For each person you can set a follow-up. Phil reminds you by notification — you decide when and how often — and puts the appointment in your calendar with your reminder times. Contact details go into your iPhone contacts with one tap; calls and mail start right from the entry. Under Mine you collect what you yourself have experienced with God: provision, healing, guidance, answered prayer, with Bible references and attachments.

The prayer list holds the people you're staying with. When a prayer gets answered, you mark it answered — it doesn't disappear, it becomes visible testimony.

Under God Speaks three things sit together, switchable at the top: prophetic words, your own impressions from prayer and Scripture, and church services with the sermon, Bible text, key points, and what God said to you there. You record prophecies as audio. The recording keeps running when the screen turns off or you switch apps; the Lock Screen shows that Phil is recording. On iOS 26 and later, Phil creates a transcript automatically, with punctuation, entirely on the device. You note whether you received a word or passed one on yourself, along with the reaction and whether it was confirmed. Existing recordings, from Voice Memos for example, come in as a file, and written-only words have their place too. Search finds any prophecy, including by its wording. The whole area is protected with Face ID, and so is backing up and restoring your data.

Phil has no account and no server of its own. What you enter stays on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, it also goes into your private iCloud area so it's there on your other devices too. Nobody gets to it but you. No ads, no analytics, nothing passed on.

Phil is a tool from Encounterhouse, a church plant in Dortmund, Germany. The name goes back to Philip the Evangelist from Acts 8. The app speaks English and German — you set it inside the app.

What's New

Recordings keep running when the screen turns off or you switch to another app. The Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show that Phil is recording, and you can stop from there. If the app gets closed in the meantime, Phil offers the recording again on the next launch. Transcripts on iOS 26 and later use Apple's new speech recognition. It adds punctuation and is built for long recordings; everything stays on the device. There is no automatic transcript on iOS 25 anymore, so you type the wording yourself there. New for prophecies: note whether you received a word or passed one on yourself. For words you passed on, you record the person's reaction and whether the word was confirmed. Under "God Speaks" there is a third area for church services with the sermon, Bible text, key points, and what God said to you. Under "Testimonies" there is a "Mine" tab for your own experiences with God, optionally with a category and Bible references, and you can attach files. Also a new header with settings and info. The data check and backup now ask for Face ID. Duplicates from iCloud sync are merged without losing data, and backup files are checked more strictly on import.
